WE WEREN'T EXPECTING…

...to fall in love with Birmingham the way that we did. Sure, there are countless songs that talk about the Magic City, but what do Duke Ellington, Lynard Skynard, and Emmylou Harris really know? You’re right; the parks in Birmingham are amazing. The thick Southern accents are a thing to be envious over. The art is something that you definitely wouldn’t expect from a town in Alabama. You wouldn’t think a good selection of food trucks exists in Birmingham, either. Breweries? No way. We were surprised by it all. The countless museums, the landscape, the music… but the restaurants and food in Birmingham almost had our jaws on the floor.

Our love letter to Birmingham is one rooted in BBQ. We love BBQ all over The South. Eastern NC for it’s vinegar sauce, South Carolina for it’s mustard sauce, Memphis for its’ dry rub, and Texas for its’ mop sauce. But then we tried Alabama White Sauce in the heartland and it stopped us in our tracks. When we tried it slathered on smoked chicken, we almost jumped out of our seats. That’s why we decided to make our own rendition of it. With horseradish chimichurri, Tillamook cheddar cheese, hickory smoked onions, and Alabama White Sauce, we hope this fried chicken sandwich will have you jumping out of your seat, too.
